Angel City FC Extends Unbeaten Streak with a Dominant Home Victory

Angel City Football Club secured their first victory of the 2025 season by defeating Seattle Reign FC 2–1 at BMO Stadium. They dominated the visiting club with accurate passing and maintained 65% ball possession. Forwards Alyssa Thompson and Riley Tiernan scored for ACFC, ensuring the team remained unbeaten in three matches with one win and two draws.

ACFC took the lead as striker Alyssa Thompson expertly controlled a perfect through ball from Kennedy Fuller to net the opening goal. The U.S. international deftly maneuvered past two defenders and curled a right-footed shot into the upper corner of the far post in the eighth minute.

Seattle Reign FC (1-1-1) quickly answered back. Angel City defender Gisele Thompson fouled winger Ana-Maria Crnogorčević in the penalty area, granting Seattle a penalty kick.

 Ji So-yun confidently converted the equalizer from the penalty spot in the 12th minute. This marks the Reign midfielder's first goal of the season and her fourth since joining the team last year.

Maintaining their composure and adhering to their game plan in the second half, Angel City FC secured the winning goal in the 63rd minute. Thompson served as a decoy while Claire Emslie executed an overlapping run on the left wing, delivering a cross into the box. Angel City rookie Riley Tiernan headed the ball over Dickey. The Reign were outperformed and outshot 16-6 in the match, with shots on target being 5-2.

Angel City FC is still unbeaten and holds fourth place in the NWSL standings, having accumulated five points from one victory and two draws. After the international break, Angel City will hit the road again in two weeks to face Houston on Saturday, April 12, at 2:00 p.m. Pacific. The match will be broadcast live on Paramount+.
